Rio Rancho City Report
Candidates applied for the Rio Rancho city offices today.
Here is the unofficial list of candidates and the positions they are running for:
- City Councilor, District 2 (four-year term)
- Jeremy Paul Lenentine, holder
- City Councilor for District 3 (four-year term)
- Joshua Antonio Jones
- Bob Tyler, incumbent
- Clyde A. Ward
- City Councilor for District 5 (four-year term)
- Karissa D. Culbreath, appointed incumbent
- William Edward Dunn
- Mayor – At-Large (four-year term)
- Barbara ann jordan
- Greggory D. Hull, incumbent
- Jaclyn Wilhite
- Municipal Judge – At-Large (four-year term)
- Jonathan L. Muniz
- Robert Cook, holder
The clerk must notify each person in writing no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday if their nomination paper is qualified or disqualified. This status will also be available on the city website.
Each qualified candidate will appear on the official ballot paper, unless a signed and notarized declaration of withdrawal is submitted to the municipal clerk no later than seven days following the date of submission of the candidacy.
People who want to be a written candidate can file a written declaration of candidacy on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
According to state law, any voter can challenge the candidacy of an individual seeking election to a municipal office by filing a petition with the district court within seven days of the regular or written filing date.
If no candidate for a position receives more than 50 percent of the total votes, the candidates with the highest and second highest total votes will be subject to a second round. The second round of elections will take place on Tuesday April 12.
Also appearing on the March 1, 2022 ballot will be questions of modification of the charter, as good as questions about general obligations for roads, public security and quality of life facilities.
