Check How To Run File Explorer As Administrator On Windows 11 PC

When you start an application by selecting the option “Run as administrator”, the application starts with administrator rights. This allows changes to be made that would not have been possible otherwise with standard / restricted permissions. The application can now access restricted parts of the system and make changes to them. There is a lot of stuff around the concept that most users ignore. Let’s take a look at them first before we move on to the methods of running as administrator in Windows 11.

In the beginning, Windows had applications with files or system-wide settings. Because this setting was a security risk, Microsoft incorporated User Account Control for later versions of Windows. This security feature prompts you for final consent shortly before an application with administrator rights starts. If you try to run a program application from a non-administrator account, the UAC prompt will be triggered and you will be prompted to enter the administrator password. The program will not start without the administrator password.

Run the program as administrator in Windows 11

Using Windows Search

  • Press – Windows + S.
  • Enter the name of the application you want to start as an administrator.
  • Right click on it in the result and choose – Run as administrator.
  • You can also click the “Run as administrator” option directly in the right pane of the Best Match drop-down menu.
  • Finally, allow User Account Control to appear by clicking – Yes.

By keyboard shortcut

  • Click on the search icon present in the taskbar.
  • Write down the name of the app you want to run as an administrator.

  • Click the Start button on the taskbar or just press the – Windows key.
  • Click – All apps.
  • In the list, find the app that you want to open with administrator privileges.
  • When you find it, right click on it and select – Run as administrator.
  • Give permission to UAC by clicking on – Yes.

Use the desktop shortcut

  • Go to the office area. To do this, press – Windows + D.
  • Right-click on the shortcut of the application you want to open with administrator rights and select – Run as administrator.
  • Finally, click – Yes to display User Account Control.

From the taskbar shortcut

  • Move the mouse pointer over the taskbar and locate the application you want to open as an administrator.
  • Simultaneously press the Ctrl + Shift keys and also click the application icon in the taskbar.
  • When the UAC dialog box appears, select – Yes.

Using the CMD Command Prompt

Before you can run an application as an administrator through the command prompt, you must first start the command line utility with administrative privileges. Although the whole procedure takes longer than others, it works perfectly.

  • In Windows search, type – cmd.
  • Press – Ctrl + Shift + Enter.
  • To consent to User Account Control, click – Yes.
  • When the command prompt appears, enter the full path of the program you want to run as administrator.
  • To get the path, type the name of the application in Windows search.

  • Check the box present before: Create this task with administrative privileges.

BEDFORD, Mass., December 02, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Progress (NASDAQ: PRGS), the leading provider of products to develop, deploy and manage high impact applications, today announced that Milwaukee County, Wisconsin has implemented Progress® MOVEit® Secure Managed File Transfer (MFT) to centralize dozens of disparate file transfer systems and serve its many constituencies more efficiently.

Milwaukee County serves nearly one million residents of all backgrounds and ages through various government departments including health and social services, housing and urban development, parks and recreation, transportation, public safety, courts and more. However, the county’s information management services division knew it needed a new file transfer system. Each team and department in the division had developed its own set of platforms and siled solutions for collecting and transferring large amounts of data. Their ideal platform would not only support the transfer of critical data and reduce inefficiencies, but would make the data traceable and keep it secure to comply with regulations such as HIPAA.

“Moving files securely within and between local, state, and federal government departments and agencies is essential for the business, as these files typically contain extremely sensitive citizen data,” said John Ainsworth, SVP, Core Products, Progress. “With MOVEit, Milwaukee County can securely configure, deploy and manage data and information exchanges from a central location, while tracking and ensuring their delivery. “

After a thorough evaluation of several MFT software vendors, Milwaukee County chose Progress MOVEit because it gave them the ability to quickly integrate and integrate a wide variety of disparate data systems and processes, minimizing complexity and allowing more centralized management. Its extraordinary ease of use turned out to be particularly appreciable. Each team was happy that they no longer had to manually transfer files or spend time writing code in their applications to handle file transfers between environments and systems.

“MOVEit is a solution that we can actually use. We were pleasantly surprised with its ease of use and richness of features, ”said Ryan Schmidt, IT Manager, Applications, Milwaukee County. “Some solutions promise everything under the sun but are so complex to configure that you never really discover their potential. With MOVEit, right after installation, we just started using it. It was quick, easy and transparent.

Going forward, the team plans to triple their use of MOVEit-managed file transfer over the next year and plans to explore the advanced workflow automation capabilities of Progress® MOVEit® Automation and Progress®. MOVEit® Transfer for secure collaboration, adding more modules as the need arises.

Used by thousands of organizations around the world to provide complete visibility and control over file transfer activities, Progress MOVEit is an automated file transfer system that allows users to manage, view, secure and control all files. file transfer activities through a single system. With predictable delivery and extensive reporting and monitoring, organizations can easily see where their files are at any time and enable user self-service while reducing IT dependency for critical administration tasks.
