Exeter Senior High Latin Club plans collection of caroles and canned food
The Exeter Township High School Latin Club will sing and collect canned goods for the Exeter Area Pantry (EAFP) on Saturday December 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The club, which consists of around 40 students who mainly organize food drives, has been able to collect more than 40,000 food items in previous years during their holiday drives. However, Anne Thomas, a club advisor since 2017 and a family and consumer science teacher at Exeter Township High School, said the club had struggled to collect the same amount of food since the start of the pandemic, despite increased demand:
“The Exeter AreaFood Pantry has reported an increased need for donations, which is why we are so committed to helping families in our community during this campaign and through other fundraisers outside of the holiday season. “
Caroling, she said, is just one of the club’s inventive ways to help EAFP meet the growing demand for non-perishable food items. The club also collected food during the district’s annual Safe Halloween Night held earlier this year, as well as adding a second spring food drive, which Thomas says is scheduled for April 19. until May 6, 2022. “We are committed to helping families in our community throughout the year,” she said.
During the vacation trip, students plan to sing along and collect food as they tour the houses around these streets near Exeter Township Senior High from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Avenue of the Woods
- Reiff Square
- Grant Street
- East 35th Street to East 40th Street
Thomas said if people do not live near these homes and wish to donate to help EAFP, they are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food at the high school from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
