Find contact details for any local business on WhatsApp through Wire Business Directory

A local business consultancy firm called Qurious Consulting Pvt Ltd seeks to end the centuries-old tradition of disturbing your friends and relatives in case you need a plumber, mechanic, or any other service. The company launched Wire, a WhatsApp business directory chatbot that registers and lists local businesses and operators, large and small.

Before going any further, I must say that I really like it. Sometimes it seems like we are at the mercy of those around us when it comes to accessing services. If your friends or acquaintances cannot provide you with the contact you need, this is going to be a problem. The other route is to go on the internet and look up the contact information of a company or operators, but this is usually a fluke.

What I mean by that, in most cases there are few companies (especially the little ones) listed online or on social media. Even if they are there, it is very likely that the details are out of date. I have personally been frustrated when I try numbers that are not in service or someone answers me in exasperation and tells me that the person or company I am looking for is no longer using that number.

What Wire is offering here is great because it attacks the problem on a platform that most Zimbabweans have access to and are familiar with. (WhatsApp)

How businesses can register

It may seem counterintuitive to start with the business rather than the prospect. However, we need these guys to become more visible because,

  1. There are a lot of great businesses and independent traders out there that don’t have the visibility they deserve.
  2. Big companies need competition
  3. It would be easier for clients to make price or rate comparisons if they knew more players in the market.

In order for a business to start up, all it needs to do is go to the Wire Business Directory website and register. (connect here). You will then need to enter all the information associated with your organization and click on “Submit”. After that, you will receive a confirmation message from Wire regarding your ad.

Before registering your business, it would be wise to go through Wire Terms of use. I saw a number of “colorful” (for lack of a better word) advertisements for services in WhatsApp groups. So it would be prudent to browse it to see if your particular business fits the scope of the service.

Regarding the cost of a listing, Wire indicates on its website that listing in the directory is free. And your list will be displayed with your phone numbers, social media IDs, web address, location details. (including maps) and e-mail.

The only thing the company is working on is signing up on WhatsApp. Wider Internet services or general data plans are expensive and out of reach for most. Thus, integrating the registration process on WhatsApp would greatly facilitate the task of local businesses, especially smaller ones.

How to access the Wire Business Directory on WhatsApp

0. All cities

So, depending on the service you are looking for, the results listed may vary. However, the folks at Wire have stated that submissions for the lists are very open and they will continue to improve the service.
