Lake County Residents To See Garbage Collection Increase By One Day Due To Thanksgiving
All offices of the Lake County County Council of Commissioners, Real Estate Appraiser, Election Supervisor, Tax Collector and Lake County Extension Center will be closed Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26 for Thanksgiving and will reopen on Monday 29 November.
The Lake County Solid Waste Division will suspend curbside collection on Thanksgiving Day. The collection normally scheduled for Thursday will change to Friday and the Friday collection will take place on Saturday. Landfill operations at the Lake County Central Solid Waste Management Facility, located at 13130 County Landfill Road in Tavares, will be closed for Thanksgiving but will operate normally on Friday. Residential convenience stores and customer service will be closed Thursday and Friday.
With the exception of bulk items, any excess trash or recycling bagged or placed in an out-of-county garbage cart will be accepted from Friday November 26 through Friday December 3. To request the collection of loose items, such as furniture, appliances
and other large household items, residents should notify their carrier directly or contact Solid Waste at 352-343-3776. No hazardous waste will be collected. For more information, visit https://lakecountyfl.gov/trash-recycling.
The Lake County Animal Shelter, located at 12280 County Road 448 in Tavares, will be closed Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26, and will open from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 27.
Lake County Connection, the county’s underprivileged transportation service, and LakeXpress, the fixed-route bus system, will not operate on Thanksgiving Day, but will resume regular services on Friday, November 26.
