Person of interest in stranger sexual assault case surrenders – Canadian police report

Prince George, BC – In an update to our April 20, 2022 news release, the Prince George RCMP are advising the public that the person of interest in the March 29, 2022 sexual assault investigation has attended the Prince George Detachment. Prince George RCMP today.

“We thank the media and the public for their assistance in disseminating information about our person of interest. Investigators arrested the suspect this morning and he will remain in custody until he can report to court. he man is cooperating fully with our police investigation,” said Cpl Jennifer Cooper, media spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP.

The investigation is still ongoing.

CONTEXT

Prince George, BC – Prince George RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted over the weekend.

Just after noon on Sunday March 27, 2022, Prince George RCMP received a report of a sexual assault that occurred at a housing complex in the 2600 block of Recplace Drive earlier in the morning.

The victim was holding an open house at the scene and showing the unit to the male suspect. The woman reports that the man came up behind her and touched her back before groping her. When the woman screamed, the man left the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as:

Aboriginal man

Between 35-45 years old

About 5’10

average build

At the time of the incident, he was wearing transitional glasses, a dark blue hoodie, baseball cap and light blue jeans with rips at the knees.

The victim suffered no physical injuries during the incident.

The police are conducting an extensive CCTV campaign in the area. No other similar incident has been reported.

“The sexual assault happened in the middle of the day in a busy part of town. We want the public to be aware of what happened and remain vigilant when dealing with strangers on a one-to-one basis. Additionally, we are looking to speak to anyone with CCTV or a dash cam capturing the suspect leaving the scene at approximately 11:15 a.m.,” Cpl says.
