WhatsApp has introduced various new measures to provide users with more privacy and security to protect their private information

WhatsApp recently introduced several new updates to give users more flexibility in terms of saving their profile. Now users can also select who in their contact list can see their profile picture, about and last seen status. Previously, this option was not available for contacts. “To better protect your privacy online, we’re rolling out new options in your privacy control settings. You can now select who from your contact list can see your profile picture, about, and last status. view,” the Facebook-owned platform said in a tweet.

Safety and security features offered by WhatsApp

Users can adjust their privacy settings to control who sees the information. Users can set their last seen, profile picture, about or status to the following options:

  • Everybody: Last seen, profile picture, about or status will be available for all WhatsApp users.
  • My contacts: Last seen, profile picture, about or status will only be available for contacts in the address book.
  • My contacts except: Last seen, profile picture, about or status will be available for contacts in the address book, except those that users exclude.
  • Nobody: Last seen, profile picture, about or status will not be accessible to anyone.

WhatsApp Group Call Updates

WhatsApp also introduced new updates for group calls. Users can now perform the following actions in group calls:

  • Mute others.
  • Send messages to specific people.
  • See a banner when someone joins off-screen.
